Mahesh Narayanan is an award-winning Indian film editor, screenwriter,director, cinematographer and producer working predominantly in theMalayalam film industry; he has also worked in Tamil and Hindi films. Aftercompleting his graduation and then his training as an editor at the AdyarFilm Institute, Mahesh started working as an advert editor. He subsequentlyprogressed to edit documentaries, short films and later entered the filmindustry. Some of his most popular films as an editor include Traffic (2011),Vishwaroopam (2013), Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015) and Uyare (2019). Afterestablishing himself as an accomplished and successful editor, Maheshventured into writing and made his debut as a writer with Mili (2015). In2017, Mahesh directed his debut feature - Take Off, based on the ordeal ofIndian nurses held captive by ISIS in Tikrit, Iraq. His other works as adirector include C U Soon (2020), Malik (2021) and Ariyippu (2022), all ofwhich he has written and edited too. He did the virtual cinematography onC U Soon which is India’s first computer screen film and then debuted as acinematographer in the 2022 survival drama Malayankunju, which he haswritten too. His films have been screened at numerous film-festivals in Indiaand across the globe where they have received much critical acclaim forthe nuanced socio-political themes addressed in each of them. His latestfilm Ariyippu (eng title: Declaration) competed in the the ConcorsoInternazionale section of the the 75 th Locarno International Film Festivalwhere it competed for the Golden Leopard.
