Stephen Strachan is an independent film producer living in the United Arab Emirates and focusing on international and regional projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Stephen has worked as a producer throughout the Middle East working with regional and international producers, directors and writers on a range of projects from feature films to TV series. Stephen has worked on films shooting in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Qatar. For the past three years Stephen worked as a Film Commissioner in Saudi Arabia building out the film industry in one of the most fast paced regions of growth. Stephen set up Film AlUla, a regional film agency covering the county of AlUa, a landscape of natural beauty and heritage in the northwest of Saudi Arabia. Infrastructure projects included a cashback rebate system, incentive package, location permitting, film-specific housing, and the launch of a studio complex. Prior to this Stephen founded the successful production company, Film Solutions, based in Abu Dhabi which produced two feature films; Scales directed by Saudi director, Shahad Ameen shot in Oman which went on to win prizes at Venice Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival and appear at London Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival and SXSW and How I Got There, a feature film shot in Kuwait City which recently won the audience award at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
